Baby daddy Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has become a father. On Sunday evening, the 25-year-old Portuguese footballer shocked the world when he announced on his official website, Twitter and Facebook fan page that he is now the proud father of a baby boy. “As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship…” he wrote.

While Ronaldo’s fans are thrilled (52,200 fans ‘like’ his message on FB), conspiracy theories about the identity of the mother, and her reasons for staying secret, are now doing the rounds. Here are some of the popular ones:

The surrogacy theory: “The woman was most probably a surrogate. Why else would she stay quiet?” asks K onJustjared.com. “It has to be a surrogate mother who was paid to give the baby up,” writes Anice on a blog.

He’s gay, they say: “He’s gonna have custody of the baby? Just like Ricky Martin... OMG, he’s freakin gay!” says Nick, while Crazie posts, “He’s gay and he paid some woman for it coz he really loved kids.”

The mum’s a minor: “I’m sure he knocked up a minor and he’s paid her loads of money so he won’t go to jail.”
