Motorola Aura made official

This article is written by Ms Kwan Chia Hui of Mobile World team.

It’s been a long time since the last Motorola luxury mobile phone. Modeled in similar designs to the Motorola V60, the Aura will make you USD2000 poorer. According to Motorola, the device is inspired by luxury watches and handcrafted design.

First in the world to feature a round 16M LCD display, it is 1.55 inch in diameter and has a resolution of 480 pixels. Its lens is made from Grade 1 62-carat sapphire crystal which is one of the most scratch-resistant materials on earth.

The stainless steel housing with chemically etched textures and patterns takes nearly two weeks to sculpt, etch and polish. Its surface has a protective PVD coating and mirror polish finish to provide a sleek and glossy look.

At the center of the mechanical heart is a Swiss-made main bearing, which serves as the foundation allowing the blade to rotate with seamless precision. Custom-engineered with 130 precision ball bearings to drive the swiveling blade, it’s said to be similar to opening a luxury car.

The Motorola Aura supports quad-band GSM and has a 2 megapixel fixed-focused camera, stereo Bluetooth and USB connectivity. It has 2GB internal memory and features Motorola’s proprietary CrystalTalk technology.

The Motorola Aura is already available for pre-order from the MOTO Store and shipping will begin in this coming December.
